“In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. The young they keep out of mischief; the old they comfort and aid in their weakness, those in the prime of life they incite to noble deeds.”
We are pleased to say that, due to the continuous support of our donors, we have been able to continue with helping the needy in the Jewish Community. This is despite the fact that unemployment and economic hardship resulted in an increasing number of families requiring assistance. We are optimistic that our finances will continue to be positive and that the Jewish Family Assistance Fund will go from strength to strength.
In 2011 we were presented with even more people requiring assistance yet we know that some struggling families are too proud or too ashamed to ask for help. Charity with Dignity is a policy that we at the Jewish Family Assistance Fund strive for in our dealings with those who need our help.
Our desire is that we will never have to turn away any family or person who is going through difficult times and that we will always be in a position to help fill empty grocery cupboards with basic, healthy foodstuffs.
An important part of our support for Jewish families is to ensure that every family is given a “special” parcel of foods for Pesach and Rosh Hashanah, so that they too can enjoy these festival times in a simple, but traditional Jewish manner.
